During the summer of 2010, I interned for a company in Greenville, South Carolina. Whenever my boyfriend from Alabama would come to visit, we always made a trip to the unique and magnificent Reedy Falls Park in the downtown area … which of course meant that we always made a trip to Spill the Beans, the cozy ice cream and coffee house located with a terrace overlooking the water. There is nothing else quite like it. Could anything be more perfect than enjoying a cool, creamy ice cream cone with a fairytale park in the backdrop? This became our favorite outing and was eventually the site where we got engaged.
Spill the Beans is magical, deserving a spot on your family’s to-visit list. It’s not your typical ice cream shop as they have their own special way of preparing treats. They use a massive, drill-like machine to perfectly blend your favorite flavor of ice cream with whatever mix-ins you choose — and they have it all! As a lover of all things chocolate-peanut butter, my go-to selection is chocolate ice cream with brownies, peanut butter cups, and pretzels. My husband’s favorite concoction is the vanilla ice cream with raspberries and dark chocolate.
But ice cream is only the beginning of the menu! Spill the Beans is first and foremost a coffee shop. They pride themselves in expertly brewing the smoothest blend of coffee as well as crafting delicious specialty drinks. I enjoyed many coffee dates with friends here, laughing and chatting for hours in the warm and welcoming environment, then strolling through the stunningly landscaped park along the Reedy River.
Spill the Beans has garnered so much love and attention through the years that they opened up another location in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
