The Town of Summerville, the Leadership Dorchester Class of 2024, and the Summerville Parks Foundation are partnering together to carry out some exciting plans for the beautiful and beloved Azalea Park in the heart of historic Summerville: a state-of-the-art, nature-themed children’s discovery garden! The forthcoming park will be a fun and enriching way for parents and children alike to enjoy the Summerville community and learn more about their natural environment.

To support this project, the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce’s 2024 Leadership Dorchester Class will host a Historic Garden Stroll on August 10, 2024. With its stunning historic homes and beloved pastime of gardening, Summerville is the perfect location for such an event!
The stroll will begin in the morning at Azalea Park, where guests will be given their itineraries and directed to four historic homes. All of the homes are within a walkable radius, but a golf cart shuttle will also be available. At each privately owned home, participants will have the exclusive opportunity to meander through the immaculate gardens, delighting in the vibrant blooms and life all around! Guests will also enjoy light refreshments and live music at each property.

The programs will inform guests of each home’s unique and rich history, connecting to the roots of the home in an even greater sense. Participants will be able to meet the homeowners and learn about these distinguished properties from a personal perspective. The magnificent and renowned Elizabeth Arden House built in 1891 is one of the homes featured on the tour, indicating that this is a must-attend event!

All of the ticket proceeds from the stroll will be donated to the children’s discovery garden project, a wonderful cause and a good reason to take a trip back to Summerville in the fall of 2024 when the project is expected to be completed. Purchase your tickets today at
