FUN IN THE SUN

Do the warmer temperatures and longer days have you dreaming of summer? Maybe your body is in the office, but your heart is at the beach. There’s nothing quite like coastal South Carolina during the summertime. From quiet, scenic getaways to energetic family hubs, our state has something to offer everyone’s vacation fantasies.

If you aren’t sure which spot is best for you, check out the list below to get the low-down on just a few of the most beloved beaches of South Carolina.

Hilton Head Island

Winner of the 2023 Condé Nast Traveler Best Island Award, Hilton Head Island is truly a premier family destination in the Palmetto State. It has everything you need to relax and make precious family memories—miles of white, sandy beaches, over 200 restaurants, pristine golf courses and tennis facilities, exciting family excursion opportunities, and more! Unwind at the iconic Sea Pines Resort, known for over 60 years of excellent hospitality, or kick back at Montage Palmetto Bluff, a quintessentially Southern resort tucked beneath the oaks between Savannah and Hilton Head. And don’t forget to grab some brunch at Nectar Farm Kitchen and enjoy a waterfront dinner at Hudson’s House on the Docks, where you’ll find some of the tastiest seafood around.

Kiawah Island

If you’re looking for a serene escape into nature, Kiawah Island is the destination for you! Known for its commitment to environmental preservation, a bike ride around this island will introduce you to a number of new friends—whitetail deer, sea turtles, or (watch out!) alligators. Kiawah Island is truly unique in that it has an unassuming simplicity, but it also offers both a luxurious resort and shopping area built into its quiet residential community. With its unparalleled grandeur and staff attentiveness, The Sanctuary hotel is a “bucket list” visit for anyone. Spend a day at the spa, a leisurely afternoon on the golf course, or stay glued to your beach chair—whatever you please. You’re sure to come home refreshed—and ready to book your next visit!

Myrtle Beach

A vibrant beach attracting visitors from around the United States, Myrtle Beach is perhaps the most famous area along South Carolina’s coast. With so much to offer outside of just the sandy shores—think miniature golf, go-karts, and live musical performances—Myrtle Beach is a great spot for families with young children. The Grand Strand is bustling with activities everyone will enjoy, including the signature Skywheel. Booking a room at Bay View on the Boardwalk will keep you within walking distance to all of the main attractions on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Or you could book a room at the Breakers Resort, which boasts a new indoor waterpark, The Cove; everyone can enjoy slipping and sliding down state-of-the art water slides. Fun times and exciting adventures await!

This list is only the beginning of all that Coastal South Carolina has to offer. If you’re looking for more options, take a look at Edisto Island, Pawley’s Island, or Murrells Inlet. Grab your sunscreen and beach towel; the Carolina beaches are calling!
