As one of the original thirteen colonies that fought for American freedom, South Carolina is chock-full of patriotic gratitude on the Fourth of July.
For all of our “planners” out there, you may already be wondering what you and your family will do to celebrate this especially meaningful holiday. More than just hot dogs and sparklers, our state has a wealth of fun and enriching opportunities for adults and children alike to gather in honor of those who fought so bravely for our independence.

North Augusta, SC
10am – 2pm
Come celebrate the Fourth of July by getting a glimpse into the everyday life of colonists during the Revolutionary War. Attendants themselves are permitted to dress in clothing of the time period and explore the historic buildings throughout the park, inspecting everything from the blacksmith’s forge, to the potter’s shed, to the old-fashioned meeting house. Enjoy a chat with the historical reenactors and reflect on our nation’s story as the Mayor of North Augusta performs a reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Charleston, SC
6pm – 10pm
This event is truly a memorable occasion! The Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum hosts one of the best Fourth of July celebrations out there. Attendants enjoy live entertainment and food trucks until the sun sets, cueing the start of a terrific fireworks display. Dazzling colors explode over the Charleston harbor, rocketing up from the USS Yorktown, the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier built for World War II. This historic location will inspire reflections of the enduring American spirit, making your Independence Day an unforgettable experience.
South Carolina Coastline
South Carolinians don their most patriotic red, white, and blue outfits, swimsuits, beach gear, and American flags and head to the sandy shores for a military flyover in honor of our soldiers. The parade of military aircrafts includes both modern and historical machines, rousing gratitude for those who fought in wars both past and present. Head to any beach along South Carolina’s coast, and you’ll get a view of the show as it spans the entire state coastline!
